Insomnia is characterized by difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep and is a very common health concern. Insomnia may affect any person at any age. In fact, approximately 10% to 20% of the population has experienced moderate to severe insomnia.1
Insomnia is often characterized by one or a combination of the following characteristics1:
- Difficulty falling asleep
- Difficulty staying asleep
- Repeatedly waking up earlier than expected
- Frequently having nonrestful sleep
